Get Well Soon is a series of monochromatic acrylic paintings on canvas that serve as a symbolic gesture of thoughtfulness and care. On one level, these paintings were started during the beginning of the COVID pandemic and functioned as the artist’s own way of wishing herself health and wellness. On another level, they also serve to wish our society, as a greater socio-cultural body and being that functions in a highly interdependent and interconnected way, well. The black and white palette further functions as a way of making undesired ill health in the present a part of the past, as it automatically imbues these otherwise contemporary images with an antiquated, historicized look, indicating that we are now past the hard part of being unwell.
